Dallas Composer Jerrold Immel Celebrated at 70
Journal focuses on respected TV scorer's life and career; new collection at UCLA
Jerrold Immel at 70, a deluxe double-issue of The Film Music Society's acclaimed quarterly journal The Cue Sheet, Vol. 21, No. 3/4 (July/October 2006), is now available.
Immel, one of Hollywood's most respected composers for more than three decades, made lasting contributions to the art of television scoring with his themes and scores for Dallas, Knots Landing, Paradise, How the West Was Won and other series.
This special issue of The Cue Sheet explores Immel's life and career through unique reminiscences by Dallas and Knots Landing creator David Jacobs; and anecdotes by colleague and fellow composer Bruce Broughton about their early days at CBS. Immel himself shares some personal reflections about his upbringing and growth as a young composer; and a Q & A conducted by journalist Jon Burlingame offers historical insights into Immel's contributions and experiences in the world of television and film music.
The issue also features a detailed inventory of music manuscripts and related production documents from The Jerrold Immel Collection, catalogued by historian Marilee Bradford on behalf of The Film Music Society for UCLA Music Special Collections.
