|
The Film Music Society provides guidance to movie studios, production companies, and the estates of composers and songwriters in their decisions about what to do with music-related materials. We offer unique services to those who wish to donate these materials to libraries, universities, cultural institutions or to the FMS. Music manuscripts, sketches, published songs, scores, recordings and other music elements as well as personal papers, letters, contracts, clippings, photographs and research files may be of historic value and serve as invaluable resources for students and professionals alike. Without cost to you, our in-house archivists will survey your materials and work with you to place them in the proper facility based on the size and nature of the materials. Oftentimes, the materials can be donated to certain universities or libraries as a contained collection. And there may be a tax benefits to the families resulting from these donations. You may also receive a tax benefit if you choose to donate the materials to The Film Music Center, where they will be preserved, catalogued, and made available for research and education. Our consultations and placement assistance are free services of the FMS for the sole purpose of preserving history by relocating these materials in a safe and user-friendly environment. If you are interested in placing your historic music-related documents in a facility, please contact us at by email at: advice@filmmusicsociety.org or visit our Contact page for more information.
