The Art of Film Music: A Tribute to California's Film Composers The Oakland Museum 1976
SOLD OUT!

"The Art of Film Music: A Tribute to California's Film Composers"
The Art of Film Music: A Tribute to California's Film Composers is a remarkable tribute to Elmer Bernstein, Ernest Gold, Lyn Murray, David Raksin and Fred Steiner, written by San Francisco-based arts critic Allan Ulrich to accompany a special presentation of the Committee for Music at the Oakland Museum in Oakland, California, on March 12, 13, and 14, 1976.

The Art of Film Music is filled with rare photographs and illustrations, indepth Q&As with each composer, and comprehensive filmographies of their works. It opens with a touching dedication by David Raksin to the great Bernard Herrmann, who had died just weeks before the impressive event took place.

This hard-to-find 40-page, soft-cover book measures 9.25" x 10" on high-quality glossy stock. It has never been reprinted and is not commercially available. The interviews and statements by the composers are not offered anywhere else.
