Emmy Awards for Music
John Williams receives his 5th; Ross, LoDuca their 2nd

LOS ANGELES—John Williams won his fifth Emmy, William Ross and Joe LoDuca their second Emmys, during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards presented Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Nokia Theatre in downtown L.A.

Williams won in the category of Main Title Theme Music for his new Great Performances theme on PBS. Ross - who, coincidentally, collaborated with Williams on the second Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets – won in the category of Music Direction, for his work on the CBS special Streisand: The Concert.

Also winning on Saturday were Joe LoDuca (Xena: Warrior Princess) for Music Composition for a Series for the pilot of Legend of the Seeker; and veteran British composer Howard Goodall (Blackadder, Red Dwarf) in the category of Music Composition for a Miniseries, Movie or Special, for HBO's Winston Churchill film Into the Storm. Goodall is a first-time Emmy winner.

Of Saturday's winners, only Ross was in attendance to pick up his award in person.

Emmy's original-song category, formally called Music and Lyrics, will be awarded on the live Prime-Time Emmy Awards broadcast Sept. 20 on CBS.
